The Kamehameha One Gram Gold Piedfort is part of the Royal Hawaiian Mint's fortieth anniversary commemorative three piece Hawaiian Mint Denomination Set minted with the original dies and issued in 2014.
The obverse features Kamehameha who was blessed in battle by Madame Pele, the Volcano Goddess, discussed military strategy with Captain Cook and proved to be a true father of his people.
The reverse features the Ahualoa Land Bank and the AU1GR (one gram of gold) inner die reverse dated 1976.
Both dies are unique as they were hand engraved at the actual 21mm die size and minted on special copper piedforts that are extra thick planchets.
